THE GEOGRAPHY OF WAITING
A participatory art project that gives voice to those who wait and to their feelings in the moment.
The experience of waiting is universal. We are not in control—we are asked to follow specific formalities and procedures as we agonize over the time spent, on hold. We obsess on whose turn is next. Today the waiting room can follow us everywhere. We wait for a medical update by text message while shopping for groceries and make appointments as we stand in a line for the cash machine.
Visit us on facebook page to participate in an exploration of waiting
and see what others have already posted. We will select images and stories from your contributions to add to this website image gallery and in the installation which will be on exhibit from July 1 through December, 2013.
This project and exhibition is inspired by and presented
in association with the: Fourth International and
Interdisciplinary Conference on Emotional Geographies,
1-3 July 2013 at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
